I have uploaded many files to the Internet Archive using another persona. These are not Walmark DVD rips or Utoob ripoffs. They are digital conversions of historic materials that have no other known existing copies available to the public. I would estimate the process took about two years of free time to digitize.
Although the files are appreciated by a small group, the download counts on the files I uploaded has surpassed by thousands any number I ever expected to reach. And I have received thanks for my files from several people whom have made much larger contributions to the public information than my efforts.
Sometimes these files are reviewed by someone who does not have the cultural context or subject knowledge to accurately review them. I find those are usually humorous in a 'poor sap' way. Like a DJ who thinks the Herman's Hermits wrote 'Mother-In Law". I cannot imagine the thought process that would be required for me to threaten to remove the files due to those comments.

By the way, what have you put up on here that's so cool?
